Tellis Green, Sharon James and Demetrius Green were not the biological children of Herbert Gelzer. They were not ever legally adopted by him before his death. They were only persons he showed love and affection to during his lifetime. This amended obituary incorporates by reference the original obituary of Herbert Gelzer created by me on or about April 24, 2021. 

Furthermore, this amendment confirms that Jeffrey Gelzer and Herbert Gelzer Jr. that predeceased Herbert Gelzer senior, had no children at the time of their death. 

Herbert Lee Gelzer of Dorchester South Carolina fell asleep in death on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Trident Hospital from a brief illness.

Herbert was born in Orangeburg South Carolina to the late George (Ella Mae) Gelzer. He attended Orangeburg public school system. Herbert was joined in holy matrimony to Deborah Gelzer.

Herbert was preceded in death by his first wife Willie Mae Gelzer, two sons Jeffrey Gelzer, Herbert Gelzer Jr. two brothers Roy Gelzer, Wilma Williams and one sister Isabell Gelzer.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his devoted wife Deborah J. Gelzer of Dorchester SC, five daughters Sharon James, Evelyn Williams, Angelia Fogel, Tonette Gelzer, Sherie Washington, one step daughter in law Felicia Green, three sons Melvin Johnson, Dino Johnson, Tyrone Gelzer, two adopted sons Tellis Green, Demetrius Green, one step daughter Amber Dortron, two stepsons Chris Copp, Jessie Copp and 12 grandkids, 11 great grandkids and a host of nieces nephews cousins, relatives and friends.
