Henry was a loving and caring husband and family man, a doting grandfather (Pappy) and a real push-over great grandfather.

By nature he was a true jokester, I think his mission in life was to make people laugh and he did a great job at it. He may have had a bad-butt exterior but he was very kind and generous,  a real softy when it came to stray cats, and he loved dogs.

He loved music, Bigfoot, watching 4-1-1, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Dateline, Fox News, and General Hospital.  We would eat our lunch and watch the previous day’s episode of GH and he would pause it several times and tell me how he would rewrite the script, criticize the writers and would always say, please,  please,  just let me appear one day on the show and I will fix everything that is wrong.  We would laugh and say,  why do we even watch this and let it get to us, and secretly,  we couldn’t wait to see the next episode.  (LOL)

He hunted many years ago and really enjoyed it but hung up his guns for a camera as he aged. He was an avid NASCAR fan, attending many races and loved the thrill till the end. His vintage Corvette was another passion of his, old car shows were always a favorite passtime.  Family gatherings, eating good food, and dining out on the weekend was pretty high up there on his list of favs. I could go on & on but if you knew him, you know he was a good guy and in most cases were lucky to have called him a friend.  He will forever be in our hearts, very much missed and his memories will always be our treasures❤️

Henry and I sparred every time we saw each other. I believe that was his way of saying he liked you. I was so sad to hear of his passing. I know he loved his family and it showed. May he Rest In Peace.

It has taken some time for me to process losing one of the most important men in my life, my bonus dad. I was blessed to have him participate in raising me. He taught my brother and I so many valuable life lessons. He taught us the importance of a good work ethic, investing for retirement, to enjoy life, family and friends. Boy, he loved Tommy and I but his love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was LIMITLESS AND UNCONDITIONAL. He taught us to be kind to others, share your blessings, give to those in need and to be honest, he taught us to fight for the right things! Each year, Hen would chose a family around Christmas time and share a Christmas blessing (but Christmas was not the only time, he would share blessings ALL year long). He had a loving, giving heart. The most important lesson my mother and Henry could have instilled was forgiveness, grace and compassion. Life leads us down many roads and sometimes we may veer a little off course, but just because a road is bumpy, you keep driving because ALL roads WILL lead you home. Through all things, Hen brought laughter. He teased our closest friends so much but always said, "if I don't joke with you, I don't like you...LOL!" Henry became part of our family 37 years ago. He and my biological father demonstrated what it was to be a FAMILY. It may not have always been easy in the beginning but they put us first. We spent holidays together, celebrated joyous occasions together and shared in sorrow together. He and my mother had a perfectly imperfect love story: beautiful beginning, great chapters, not so great chapters but a BEAUTIFUL ending; all by the grace of God!  I know he is in Heaven preparing that rose garden he promised my mom he would have waiting for her. Until we meet again Hen, I will love you forever and thank God for the blessing of you!!

To our family and too all who loved this man we called uncle Henry Joe . We grew up holding on to good times and bad times. We never forgot our love for each other no matter how we learn as adults how to survive and become the strength for those who needed us the most. You will always be our heart and thank you for teaching us how to be strong in very hard times. My heart is with you til we are together again . Terrie Winkle as you called me .
