Hank's obituary
Henry "Hank" Greger, 94, of Bowie, MD, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024.
Born and raised in the Bronx, New York City, Hank was a man of boundless passion and unwavering dedication, devoting his life to both his professional career and his cherished family. His career in accounting brought him to Maryland in 1978 when his lobbying firm relocated to Washington, D.C. Despite spending many years away from his hometown, Hank always considered himself a proud New Yorker at heart. Over the course of his distinguished 41-year tenure with the same firm, Hank rose to a director-level position, achieving remarkable success without the benefit of a high school diploma—and he took great pride in never having taken a sick day.
A man of diverse interests, Hank was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith and found joy in playing and listening to oldies music, gardening, crabbing, bass fishing, and vacationing with his family at Rehoboth Beach. He was also a passionate admirer of Elvis Presley, frequently sharing his admiration for the King of Rock 'n' Roll with anyone who would listen.
In his long retirement, Hank embraced a life filled with travel, fishing, gardening, playing his Casio keyboard, and treasured moments with his wife, Carol, and family. He also took great pleasure in watching movies, sports, and staying informed through Fox News.
Hank was predeceased by his children, Linda, and Henry Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Carol Greger, his children Justin, Mitch, and Rachel, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hank was truly a man among men—someone whose strength, integrity, and passion left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
