Mike's obituary
Henry Michael "Mike" Beerbower, 66, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home on March 12, 2025.
Born on August 11, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa, Mike grew up on the East Side of Des Moines. In 1975, he met the love of his life, Tina Dacken, at the Iowa State Fairground Races. A year later, on April 17, 1976, they were married, beginning a journey together that spanned nearly five decades.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather (papa), and great-grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He and Tina built a loving home where their children—Michael (Laura), Matthew (Traci), and Nicholle (Michael)—were raised with warmth and care. His family continued to grow with the arrival of grandchildren Caleb (Austin), Austin (Mary) , Abbey (Jacob), Matty, Jace, Carson, Daron, Nicholas, Carter, Evelyn, Cooper, and Cora; as well as great-grandchildren Remi, Alex, Alivia, and Wesson. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world.
Mike had a passion for NASCAR and sprint car races—a love that began in his youth and remained with him throughout his life. Whether watching from the stands or cheering from home, racing was one of his greatest joys. He also found peace in fishing and took pride in coaching softball at Grandview Little League for many years. A dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan through thick and thin, Mike never missed an opportunity to support his team.
He is survived by his beloved wife Tina; their children and grandchildren; adopted daughter Patti (Larry) Gibson; his brother Bobby (Gina) Beerbower; sisters Sherry Beerbower & Cary (Tom) Mathis; sister-in-law Tammy Brandt; sister-in-law Angi (Scott) Becthold; sister-in-law Debbie Delmege; brother-in-law Donnie (Ally) Dacken; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Henry Beerbower Sr. and Mary Atwood; siblings Marcella (Eddie) Turner, Albert (Elaine) Beerbower, and Henry Jr.; father-in-law Fred Dacken Sr.; mother-in-law Jackie Dacken; and brother-in-law Fred Dacken Jr.
Mike’s legacy lives on through the love he shared with his family and the countless memories made along the way. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
