There are cemeteries that are lonely,

graves full of bones that do not make a sound,

the heart moving through a tunnel,

in it darkness, darkness, darkness,

like a shipwreck we die going into ourselves,

as though we were drowning inside our hearts,

as though we lived falling out of the skin into the soul.

Pablo Neruda

Helga was another "parent" for me and my sister, Mary Helen.  She was someone our whole family liked, looked up to, and admired. She was wise and fun, and always willing to expose us to something new or help in a pinch. She was like a sister to our mother, Mandy Loutrel, and was among Mandy's most loyal supporters and friends. She will be sorely missed, as will her spirit and joie de vivre.

Ruhe gut, Helga, und geh in Frieden, dein Geist bleibt bestehen. (Rest well, Helga, and go in peace, your spirit endures.)

I was so so so sad to hear about Helga's passing.  I wish I had an opportunity to say goodbye.  :( She was so (as well as Renata), gracious and generous, always leaving me with fresh vegetables before they commenced on yet, another European journey.  She could not bear food going to waste...understandably.  Helga was so incredibly active, more active than most 30 year olds I know!  I will also always remember the times she had me over for wine and cheese for our summer 'catch-ups'. So kind, warm and quick-witted too!    Lastly, I respected and admired her for her passion  and plethora of  hobbies/athletics/activities.   I always learned something from Helga and we shared a love of Art History.   A life truly well-lived!  Love and miss you.:(

 Your neighbor, Karen B. Griffin.

I was so sorry to hear about Helga's passing.  I always enjoyed hearing her bird and travel stories and sharing a love of the outdoors.

Helga was a close friend of mine  I learned a lot from her ! The wisdom , love for the Art, Kindness and sense  of Humor  overpowered her personality!  She was special, loved the out door and her hobby , watching all the birds She knew their names ,and could whistle , so they followed her . Amazing ! I have all the fun memories with her, and being thankful to knew her !

I will miss her, but  she is now in a better Place  with her parents , brother snd friends!

You were a “TROOPER “.  Helga 💔

Helga will be deeply missed; we loved her generosity and love of travel; her artistic interests and talents.  She knew so much about birds and nature. Both she and Renata were an integral part of the very fun French group which met at the Presbyterian Church pre-covid.  Above all, Helga along with Renata spent time with those who were alone or in need of help. They were outgoing and warm neighbors at Putnam park. Helga I pray you Rest In Peace.
