Helen's obituary
Helen Virginia Wilson née Jobe was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 14, 1939. Helen passed from this life on her birthday, October 14, 2024, at the age of 85. Helen's graveside memorial service will be on November 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Helen was the daughter of Martha and Oscar Jobe. She was the sixth of seven children. Helen’s childhood was in Memphis, Tennessee. She talked about playing in the mud on the banks of the Mississippi River as a child. She moved to Denver, Colorado with her family when she was fourteen years old where her older brother Joseph (Joe) had settled after the Marine Corp. Helen attended high school at Denver’s West High School. Helen was a dedicated mother and Grammie to five children, Christine Wilson, Virginia Wilson-Cobble (spouse Ron Cobble of Indiana), Brian Wilson Jr. (Spouse Ingrid Wilson née Stitt of New York), Amanda Ferrell née Wilson (spouse Shane Ferrell of Loveland, Colorado), and Lesile Wilson-Langsdon (spouse Bruce Langsdon of Tennessee). Helen has 6 grandchildren that she loved with all her heart, Klara Wilson, Kailie Wilson, Ian Wilson, Ethan Cobble, Ya Mei Wilson, and Rosie Wilson. Helen is also survived by her youngest of six siblings, James Howard Jobe of Denver, Colorado.
Before her retirement, Helen worked for 32 years as a telecom specialist with Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Helen was a breast cancer survivor. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services at Metropolitan State College of Denver at the age of forty-five. She wanted her children to know that education was important. Helen was an artist, a painter and loved to read and sew in her earlier years. Of most importance, Helen loved Jesus and had a personal relationship with her Savior. Before becoming disabled, Helen faithfully attended Pinebrooke Community Church in Arvada, Colorado. Helen’s son commented that Helen lived a life of sacrifice. She gave all she had and all she was for her children, grandchildren and family. Everyone knew that if they needed anything, they could go to Mom/Grammie, and she was always, always present and ready to participate in the lives of her family.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Charles and Joseph and sisters, Lois, Marguerite, and Mary and her daughter Amanda. As a final blessing in her life, Helen left this life in her sleep the morning of her eighty-fifth birthday, loved and cared for at home in Lakewood, Colorado.
