Helen Nogatch Dedication Bench

Dear Friends of Helen Nogatch,

Please join us to celebrate our mom’s bench dedication on Sunday July 20. We hope to share a little time together to reflect on mom’s life, in a peaceful and natural setting. Please share this invitation (and the new video link below) with any of mom’s friends. If you would like to visit mom’s bench on another day on your own, please feel free to do that as well. I know my mom would be happy you came to say hello, and welcome you with open arms and a smile.

Details:

Sunday July 20 (one year)

130 Lions Bay Elementary School Gravel Parking lot (Free to park on weekends).

200 Mom’s Dedication Bench

There is a staircase at the gravel parking lot, the bench is located two minutes down the stairs and to the right at Reflection Loop on Centennial Trail. The stairs may be a little challenging for some. Directly across the field, there is a more gradual trail with no stairs. You may want to come with a friend, or bring a folding chair or hiking sticks.

We look forward to seeing you, and to remember our loving mom, Helen.

Helen’s Light in Lions Bay

Through painted skies and oceans wide,

Helen walked with love as her guide.

A soul that danced with colors bright,

She filled the world with art and light.

From New York’s hum to Mexico’s breeze,

To Canada’s shores and towering trees,

She built a home with hands so strong,

Where love and laughter still belong.

Her spirit thrived where mountains rise,

Among the waves of Lions Bay skies.

She hiked, she sketched, she shared her view,

A mother, a friend—so kind, so true.

She taught, she painted, she danced with glee,

She embraced the world wholeheartedly.

A traveler’s heart, a teacher’s grace,

She left her love in every place.

Helen’s life was a masterpiece—one painted with love, kindness, and adventure. Whether through her art, her teaching, or her travels, she left behind beauty wherever she went.

She believed in lifelong learning, and whether she was hiking the Inca Trail, exploring Japan, or gathering with her book club, she embraced every experience with curiosity and joy.

Her heart belonged to her family, her students, her friends, and the community she built in Lions Bay. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Though time moves on and rivers flow,

Her spirit shines in all who know—

That love’s not bound by time or sea,

For Helen’s light will always be.

Patrizia Cox and Helen are together now!

Much Love & Many Blessings to everyone

Merry Christmas Momma!

I decorated the tree, enjoyed the twinkle of the lights, and listened to traditional music. Another Christmas sleepover together!

To your Everlasting Loving and Positive spirit.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

I am thankful that I had connected with Aunt Helen several times in the past few years. I wish my family and I could have made a trip to Lion’s Bay but covid and other things prevented such from happening. Helen and I enjoyed texting each other.
Missing your mom so much. I will treasure the many memories I have of our time together. Helen was a strong, intelligent, caring woman who will always inspire me. She loved each of her kids and grandkids so much. Thinking of you all.  RIP Helen.

I wore mom’s Fiji t-shirt at her Celebration. Almost 30 years ago, Mom and I travelled to Fiji. We rented a car and drove around the island, mom always stopping to chat with the locals and taking photos together with all the beautiful flowers. The locals would often say, “Bula!” I asked what this meant, and they said, “Cheers, to good Health, to Life!” Over the years, mom and I would often say “Bula,” for the Fiji memory, but also for being together in the moment and as an appreciation of life. Bula for you Momma, and for a well lived Life!
