Helen Ann McCreight, age 46, of Nashville, passed away on September 10, 2019. She was born in Winchester, TN, on a sunny November day, which was also Thanksgiving. She graduated from Franklin County High School, and then went on to receive a Bachelors of Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was best known for her compassionate heart, beautiful smile, and caring spirit. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a gift for making one feel special, and once you met her, she stayed with you forever. Teaching her students fueled her heart, as did learning from them as well. She spent the last few years of her professional life teaching in ESL classrooms, and this was by far her favorite. Being mother to her children was her greatest accomplishment.

She is survived by her three children, John Robert Ballard of Winchester, Claire Marie Ballard of Manchester, and Caroline Emmie Ballard of Manchester. She also leaves behind her parents, Debbie and Kenneth Blanton of Cowan; her sister, Dixie Noel (Andrew), and her nephews, Milo Edward and Anders Hopkins, all of Hood River, OR; and her sister, Leslie Blanton, of Murfreesboro.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Children’s Defense Fund through her memorial website.
