HELEN's obituary
We mournfully announce the passing of Helen "Lil Bit" Kenney, who was also known as Lil Bit, but preferred to be called Helen. Born on July 22, 1964, she departed this life on March 18, 2024.
Helen is survived by her nieces, Colleen Maroney and Miranda Orta, her boyfriend, Christopher Stathos, her ex-partner, Michael LaForm, and her nephews, Sean Payton, Gabriel Clark, and Shamus Maroney.
She was predeceased by her mother, Lucille Kenney, and her father, Terrence Kenney.
A woman of simple tastes, Helen's favorite foods consisted of hamburger steaks with brown gravy, and she enjoyed washing it down with an ice-cold Pepsi. She found solace in the music of Helen Reddy and relished the thrill of watching anything horror. An artist, she loved sketching people and her favorite pastimes included playing the slot machines, visiting casinos, watching movies at home, and playing games on her computer. A lover of the color red, Helen's personality can best be described as caring, understanding, and stubborn.
She believed deeply in the importance of family, stating that family does not have to be blood-related. Among her greatest accomplishments was her ability to bring happiness, love, and laughter to those around her, even if it included a bit of frustration at times.
Her legacy remains in her teachings of not judging others. Even her annoying logic at times, and her stubborn way of seeing things her own way, never admitting fault, were attributes that made her who she was. Helen may have left us physically but her memories and teachings live on. As her niece Colleen Maroney beautifully puts it, "I love you Aunt Helen, you're not gone. You're just overseeing."
