Mom is always with me when I'm out in Nature. She's with me when I'm lounging around too! I miss you Mom but I feel you with me. Thank you. — with Tara Berro
I am saddened to hear of Helen's passing. I enjoyed serving with her for many years on the board of Southeast Michigan Land Conservancy. Helen's dedication to land and wildlife conservation will be remembered.

I miss your mother very much. Her smile would brighten anyone's day, and definitely brightened mine. She was wise and a great listener. Helen wasn't judgemental, thus allowing her to be a great listener. The wise part of her was knowing to just listen and not give her opinion 😆 No one could say "You told me I should do that." She shared special stories about her life with me. Many of her stories I could relate to; not wanting our marriages to fail, knowing when to accept it, so happy being a mother (grandmother,) raising our children the best we could, fond memories from those earlier years, working hard to support our families, caring for a child with a life threatening illness, and so much more. She was a wonderful friend! 😊

bilateral bruises, Sandy’s memory: We were high up in Colorado at biological station helping research climate change impact on wildflowers & their pollinators especially hummingbirds. Our jeep was unable to continue a steep climb & Helen fell when we all got out on the rocky incline. It was very tricky getting out when the jeep was pointing UP.

From Sandy:

We were friends & colleagues.
When we were in Zonta she was membership chair.
She was on the board of directors of Southeast Michigan Land Conservancy for most of my 10 year participation.
We grew old together sharing our 'golden years' almost weekly by phone. I miss her companionship alot.
I treasure the memory of her understanding when she brought my mother & my german shepherd to pick me up from the hospital.

Dear Val and family. Deepest condolences to you all. Thinking of you ❤️🙏🏻
I’m sorry for your loss. I met your mom many years ago. I remember how impressed I was. Here was this strong, smart business woman who was also a very kind and loving single mom. Valorie you had a great role model. I hope your memories sustain you.

I met Helen when she moved her family to Redford (across the street from where I lived). That means I was about 5 years old when I made friends with her 2 youngest daughters Valorie & Tara...So, I grew up with Helen. She was very involved with all of her children...I remember that she worked ALOT but no matter, she was always involved in whatever was going on with her children. She was a troop leader for her oldest daughters Girl Scout group which included a couple of my older sisters. She then was also a troop leader for her younger daughters "Bluebird & Camp Fire Girl" groups of which I was in. One year at Christmas time, Helen took our troop downtown Detroit to what I now realize must have been a type of shelter for much less fortunate families....and we brought gifts to share with the children who were living there... what a wonderful lesson she taught to us. Helen always included me in everything she had going on with her kids....wether it was taking her kids to the lake for the day, or a family gathering on a Sunday....I was ( fort the most part), the only kid who was there who wasn't her biological kid.....she always made room for me 😊 As I got older, I came to realize what a kind person she was...and how non- judgemental she was...she allowed people to make their own mistakes and never made them feel bad or less than for having made bad choices. There were a couple of qualities that Helen possessed that I really admired about her.....but I guess the one that overpowered the rest was how much she loved her children...they were indeed the most important thing to her, throughout her life! Helen was not the " huggy kissy" type of Mom...but in the last year's of her life when I would see her, she would let me kiss her cheek & she'd kiss me back...she was so sweet that way & so in tune with people....and I believe she knew how much I missed that after my own Mom had passed ❤️ She was a wonderful human....and, she gave this world more of her wonderfulness within all of her children. I Love you Helen, ( Mrs. Jeter)
