Helen Marie Fox

October 8, 1951 – August 8, 2021

Marie was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, mentor, neighbor, artist, band member, beekeeper, gardener, farmer and animal lover.

Marie moved with her family to “the country” in 1978 from Fairfax, VA, and set sites on a small farm in Culpeper. Over the years Marie raised the farm and the farm raised her. All who knew Marie enjoyed visiting and spending time at Windy Acres, seeing and hearing about the menagerie of animals she loved tending to, her gardening, canning, artwork, etc. Every day was an adventure. Marie took pleasure in the simple things in life and enjoyed and respected nature, the earth and environment. She has touched and inspired the lives of many, sharing her knowledge and talents. Marie loved to teach art to children and her murals, hand painted ceramic eggs and artwork can be found in homes and businesses throughout the area.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, James Stewart Fox and Helen Sue (Smith) Fox. She will be watching over two daughters, Kelly Thornton (husband Philip) and Misty Jenkins (husband Eric), three grandchildren that she cherished, Mason, Blakely and Kiptyn. She also leaves behind two brothers, S. Anthony Fox (Donna) and J. Vernon Fox (Tracy) and their children who also spent time on the farm with Marie, her cousin, Sandy Bremmerman, and two special people in her life, Janet Harrover and Dan Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marie’s honor to create a pollinator garden in a park in her community. Link to donate also found in the site noted above.
