Obituary for Helen K. Eddy

Of Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, daughter of the late Allyn and Irene Eddy, she was raised in Enfield, Connecticut.   Helen graduated from Principia College with a degree in Fine Arts, specializing in studio art.   Following graduation, she moved to New York City, working for several years in the studio of Industrial Designer David Rowland.  At the same time, she continued developing various visual styles, particularly in the areas of collage and photography.  As a good friend said “One did not have to be around Helen for more than about a minute to catch on to her creativity and vivid response to beauty.”  Following her first marriage and the birth of son Selby, and living in the Boston area, she embarked on a new artistic and entrepreneurial adventure, her greeting card business, day*star.  Along the way, she met the love of her life, David Stafford-Parkin, whom she married and with whom she ran her ten-year-old successful card business for more than 30 additional years.  Her cards brought joy to people visiting gift shops across New England and along the East Coast.  Helen was raised as a Christian Scientist, living a life of love and of service to others.   She also enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, hosting a well-attended open house each December.  Helen was a devoted mother to Selby, a loving and caring wife to David, and a supportive sister to Frances Eddy, Mary Eddy, and Jean O’Neil Eddy, as well as a generous aunt to her niece and grandniece, Courtney and Juliette Riss.  A celebration of Helen’s life is being planned for April 2024; you may sign up for updates by emailing estate@heleneddy.com.   In lieu of flowers, donations to one of the following would be welcomed:
