I was so lucky to know Heidi and work closely with her.  When the office job came about at RES I didn't think I could do it but Heidi pushed me to apply because she had faith in me.  I am so glad I did and got to work with her.  In time we became friends even though she was my boss. When I was unsure Heidi pushed me,  when I need help she was always there,  she cared for my kids like no other boss has before and always asked them how the weekend was on the funny farm.  She made everyone comfortable even though deep down she was in pain.  I couldn't imagine not knowing her.  I will forever be grateful for the time I had with her.  I strive to be Heidi like in my day to day life.  She is one of those amazing humans to make lasting impressions on the people who knew her.  The Ridgway school community will forever be grateful for what short time we had with her.

The most fun evening in Rome …

The most fun evening in Rome - drinking wine and dancing

"Keep your feet on the pedals, eyes on the trail, let's do this!" - Heidi Hanssen to a woman who was frozen with fear and about to attempt to walk her bike down a steep section of Zippity Do Da (MTB trail in Fruita, CO). Heidi's easy confidence and enthusiasm quickly inspired this woman to throw her leg over her bike and follow Heidi down the trail. At the bottom, there were high fives and HELL YEAH!! shouts of joy!

Small but memorable example of Heidi's impact on the world.

I'm going to miss this woman for all the joy, adventure, friendships, and FUN she fostered!
