Hector's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Hector Rivera, a beloved father, devoted family man, and a sincere friend to many. Born on June 12, 1942, Hector lived a full and rich life before his death on April 9, 2026.
He is joining his wife, Gladys Rivera, and his parents, Amelia and Dominic Rivera, in the afterlife while being remembered here by his daughter, Sandra Kearns, Son in Law, John Kearns, and Hector’s grandkids Oliver Leleika and Adam Leleika.
Hector is fondly remembered by his daughter, Sandra Kearns, as a jokester who could light up a room with his infectious laughter and his knack for spinning intriguing tales. Despite any circumstances he found himself in, Hector's love of laughter and his warm, loving nature remained a constant source of comfort and joy to those around him.
A man of great principles, Hector instilled in us the importance of family above all else. He was a master negotiator, teaching us the art of bartering like a pro at car dealerships. He was remarkably good at making the most challenging negotiations seem effortless, a skill that many of his friends and family have come to admire and will surely pass on to future generations.
Hector's life was one of service and sacrifice. His stint serving in the army was amongst his greatest accomplishments, a testament to his bravery and determination. Hector's courage and resilience were an inspiration to us all. Although he lost his leg during his service, he always considered it a badge of honor rather than a disability.
The story of how Hector would narrate his leg's loss to a new person was always a rollercoaster ride. These tales were often filled with humor, suspense, and a touch of magical realism, leaving everyone in splits and wondering what truth laid beneath the incredible narratives. This unique talent of Hector's made even the most ordinary conversations memorable.
Hector's departure leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts, but his spirit lives on in his teachings, his stories, and the love he unconditionally showered on us. May his soul rest in peace.
