When Graduating, I recieved hundreds of Grad cards written from so many different people, and for a lack of space only kept 5 of them. Despite not knowing Heather for very long, the Leonard family Graduation card was one that I kept. The way that Heather was able to make me feel so loved and appreciated and also give me such great faith related advice in only a short amount of words was truly something special. I will hold on to this card forever. ❤️

Jason, Andrew and Sara. Uncle Richard and I have struggled to find the right words to say. We've realized there are no right words. We can only say what's in our hearts. We're so so sorry for you to have to go through this. Our hearts are heavy with your sorrow. With time and your faith, friends and family your hearts will begin to heal. We're keeping you in our prayers. If there is anyway we can help please don't hesitate to reach out to us. All our love. Aunt Linda and Uncle Richard, Michael and Melissa.

Medical School Graduation from The University of Iowa

I first met Heather in 1998 as we both entered medical school at The University of Iowa. As a native Iowan and local, I offered her a ride for a school related off-campus event. One of the first things she asked me was, “Where do you go to church?” And so our friendship began. That faith-based connection opened the door to a faithful friendship over these past 26 years. God is so good, and He knew just what He was doing. We were in Bible studies together throughout medical school, joined CMDA, went on some really fun trips (Chicago & even Florida), and also studied together…A LOT! She really was the most organized student I’ve ever seen!!! We even celebrated her engagement and then marriage to Jason during those years. So many sweet memories of a very kind, thoughtful and sweet friend. As hard as the news is to hear, we were praying for an amazing breakthrough for Heather and her health. This time I trust that her breakthrough is being in the presence of the Lord now. I will continue to pray for her family, and all those who have been deeply touched by her life, her faith in Jesus, and her friendship… People like me who will miss her dearly.

I had made a huge move from CA and started attending Living Faith Community Church. I jumped into the Women’s Bible studies and the retreat. One of the Bible studies was at Heather’s house and she was such a friendly, warm, loving, and inviting lady, I felt like I was at home with family! Heather apologized to everyone that her cat was in the middle of the group but we all loved it. We shared our hearts and humor and I thank God she was in my life for the few years I got to know her. God Bless!

Our family was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Heather. Heather radiated Gods love and her smile lit up a room. We loved seeing her cheer for the kids during XC and track . Please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with you and your family as you navigate through this period of grief. May Gods love strengthen and encircle you with peace. Families are forever ❤️
