Hattie's obituary

On June 3, 2023, Ms. Hattie Beatrice Moore (84) was called home by her Lord and Savior after a long battle with lung cancer. She passed away in her residence in Bellwood, Illinois.

Hattie was born on January 23, 1939, to West Moore and Lou Ella (Hannibal) Moore in Greensboro, Alabama.

A devout child of God, Hattie was adamant that God’s love was for all and spent her life spreading the word of the Lord to any who would hear.

After years of sharecropping, she joined the great migration and headed north to Chicago, where she lived with her aunt. She later met James E. Jarrett in 1959, united in Holy Matrimony. Two sons were born, Andre (Kamau Lizwelicha) and Danny Jarrett, to this union.

She later joined the Rock of Ages Baptist Church under Pastor Wiley, serving faithfully since 2000 until the Lord called her home.

After 30 years of dedicated service, Hattie retired in 2005. Upon retirement, she enjoyed serving in the church, working in her garden, and visiting her family.

Hattie leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Kamau and Danny, daughter-in-law Gail Jarrett; two grandsons, Gamba Lizwelicha and Daniel Jarrett; one granddaughter, Neilah Lizwelicha, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her four brothers and four sisters.
