Hatsy's obituary

Hatsy Yasukochi was born March 7, 1940 and grew up in Lafayette and Concord, California. She and Moses married May 3, 1964 and had three daughters, Stacey Nolan (Michael), Wendy Prigge (Todd) and Erin Yamamura (Craig). They opened the Yasukochi’s Sweet Stop in 1974 where she worked every day, even through her chemotherapy treatments.

She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, Kenji, Sam, Justin, Lindsay, and Amanda, and cherished the times of all of them running around like crazy at Christmas competing in reindeer games (adults included). She enjoyed going to Lake Tahoe with her grandkids and often posted up at the Elvis game in the arcade for hours, getting so excited when large chunks of coins would fall and she could give all of her tickets to the grandkids.

Hatsy was the most fashionable, hardworking, kindest, zaniest grandma there ever was. She'll be missed for her crazy Saran wrapping and Ziploc bagging of everything, her die hard love for Ichiro Suzuki, and the way she could watch Korean soap operas for hours on end. She had the funniest eating habits—always taking all of the seeds off her hamburger buns from Benkyodo, eating donuts with a spoon, and peeling grapes for Kenji at the bakery. Whenever you asked her why she would do something strange with her food, she would give a little laugh and attribute it in great deal to a medical condition that, as a 12 year old, can only be described as TMI.

Hatsy was such a light in the lives of everyone she knew and she will be dearly missed.
