Thinking of you today. You'd be so excited when we come in because now we have 10 doggies. Wish you were here to talk with me about them. They are a hot mess some days. I think of you often andI know your family does everyday. Tell Jesus we'd take you back. 😂🙏🏼❤️

Everyone’s favorite vet. She …
Everyone’s favorite vet. She was so loved and appreciated by her clients, her teams, and her community. She used to receive thank you letters and gifts all the time from people who’s animals she’d helped or saved, and they all praised her dedication, her warm nature and compassionate bedside manner, and the incredibly important work she did. (AND they all mentioned how she always made them laugh and smile, of course) Although the trials and challenges of the job sometimes weighed heavily on her and I remember well her frustrations (many of which she relayed with her trademark humor, as you can imagine), ultimately I always witnessed her push and shoulder through all of it, fueled by her passion for helping animals and people, and always delivering amazing care and making huge positive differences in so many lives -- both furry and non. I will forever admire her, and everything she did, more deeply than I can describe.

Exploring our new state of Oregon with Emma and Dug. The four of us had some great adventures that year. Our time there was an unforgettable highlight of my life. We all miss you so much.

12 years ago, I will always remember her pure joy and excitement on this day. She was beaming with happiness every single moment from beginning to end, and I loved nothing more than seeing that special smile. I love you, Hunnus. Happy Anniversary ❤️

2014, Mesa, AZ, USA
On the Merry Go Round at Superstition Springs Mall. We visited malls often, and Sophie always begged to go on these or on the little indoor trains. Last weekend I was back at this mall with the kids, and of course we rode the Merry Go Round again. After we finished and sat down, I pulled up this picture and more and the kids were very curious to see old pictures of Mommy in the same location. I try to pull up every old photo and video of her I can for them as often as possible. I do my best to always make it a positive, and the memories do make me smile, but it will always come with sadness and pain. Miss you so much, Hunnus 😞

Happy 41st Birthday to our beloved Haruno. ❤️ Tonight is a big night: the kids are finally watching Back to the Future for the very first time. Haruno was always talking about this day — we agreed we’d wait until the kids were old enough to appreciate what she considered the greatest trilogy of all time (there was much debate between us on this, with me always arguing that it’s clearly LOTR. But of course she’d never back down on her claim that BTTF holds the crown) So, very excited about that and to finally see what the kids think. They’re excited too. Sophie was insistent on us going to Target (Mommy’s favorite) for some bday decorations and treats, and we’re now sharing pictures and Mommy Memories as we always love to do. Below is one of Haruno’s fun and beautiful selfies (she took the best selfies) from her bday in 2018. I will always miss receiving these. I’d like to share the same donation links I’ve been using for anyone who would like to purchase a gift for Haruno’s birthday: my suggestions are this local German Shepherd rescue (here: https://www.savingpawsrescuea… , selected with the assistance of Dr. Oliver) and/or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (here: https://www.bcrf.org/ ) I know she’d appreciate a donation to either. We miss you always. Happy Birthday (halfway to 82!) Haruno ❤️

2010, Cannon Beach, OR, USA
My parents embarked with us on our journey moving from Arizona to Oregon back in mid-2010, and after arriving at our new home, they spent a few days exploring the surrounding sights with us. I have so many treasured and special memories from this time, especially witnessing them bond and become even closer with Haruno. Here she is with my mom after I told them to look like they were exploring, just being goofs and having so much fun. I’ve always loved this picture.

I miss all the silly and fun selfies she'd take with the kids and send me. It always gave me a smile during my workday. She'd especially make sure to take and send them whenever I was stressed or frustrated.

Haruno really enjoyed Kiwanis park, so I took the kids there today for a small picnic and to feed the ducks. We listened to her music and shared some Mommy Memories, and as always they managed to make me laugh and smile. They’re incredible. It’s a hard day, but I’m so grateful for them. If you have a moment to think about Haruno today and to reflect on a favorite memory, that would mean a lot to us.

Falling asleep with 2-day old Sophie. We were of course exhausted at this time, but she was so full of joy every day to be home with our new baby. Behind her on the nursery wall is the tree we painted (and that she loved so much) with well wishes for Sophie from friends and family. You can also see Haruno's Calvin & Hobbes boxset that she couldn't wait to read to the kids when they were old enough

She used to send me celebratory selfies whenever she was successful in getting the kids to take a nap. It always made me laugh, like so many of the things she did

Reading Mother’s Day letters and drawings the kids made for her. We hid these at the conclusion of an Animal Crossing-themed scavenger hunt we put together that she loved. This was during the early days of the pandemic, and the four of us were finding lots of ways to be entertained and have quality time together at home.

Picnic breakfast by the lake with the kids, remembering the world’s best mommy. We love you forever. Happy Mother’s Day ❤️
We would meet on the sidewalk between our houses to exchanges items our kids forgot at each other’s house, or meds, or food… we’d have this little stolen moment of joy catching up in our pajamas and bare feet.

A few memories and thoughts recently shared by family and friends:

Aunt Trudy: "At Grandma’s 90th birthday party in NY, I broke a vase and it sliced my thumb! She followed me into the ladies room, got a bandaid from the bartender and took care of me! If not for her, I probably would have needed sutures! Love and miss her, such a sweetie! 💕 "

Ashley M: "I ripped a hole in my scrubs top and Haruno sutured it closed for me so I could get through the rest of the day!"

Ashley K: "When she told me a story of a girl she went to school with - she was having a hard time on patients taking the dogs temperature and she asked her what hole? Graham told her ‘top hole’ ….

She then always said ‘top hole’ when taking temperatures at work. 😆"

Jessi P: "One of my favorite memories is me showing her how I could rest the strap of my purse on the top of my butt when my shoulder gets tired. She wanted to try, and it slipped right down to the floor cuz her butt was so much smaller than mine. We laughed so hard we almost peed our pants!! Also, in general, I loved all our days together at work bc we would laugh all day long!"

Lindsey C: "In therapy this weekend, I had to fill out a questionnaire that will help me to reconnect with myself. Question #15 "Who am I missing in my life right now?"

I wrote "Haruno" on the line.

I saw Guardians of the Galaxy 3 later that same day... and there's the tiniest mention of something Haruno loved in the last scene of the movie. I smiled so big."
