I was married to Harry Warner for just shy of 15 years. Although we divorced, we remained friendly and I can actually say through the course of time, we became friends.
My husband and I were taking a trip to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for my 70th birthday. We called Harry and Maria up before the trip and asked if they would like to get together for lunch or dinner while we were there.
They would have no part of us going out to a restaurant and Harry said "Let us cook you a Mexican dinner 'Texas Style'." There is no-one else who could say Texas Style in an elongated way like Harry could. LOL We did not want to put them out, but he and Maria loved cooking together and they insisted. All I can say is wow.
Everything was made from scratch and Harry even made stuffed jalapenos! Oh my goodness, one of my absolute favorites! Anyone who knows the two of them would possibly think they have more kitchen gadgets than Wolfgang Puck or Emeril Lagasse.
Maria loves to bake and decorate cakes and she made me a beautiful birthday cake. And that is not all....Harry gave me one of his cutting boards and Hasselback Potato cutter, his wooden spice container with home made spices. My favorite is the Hasselback Potato cutter. I use it often.
Let's just say we were given the red carpet treatment. We met Tommy, Candie's half brother for the first time and their beloved dog, Chance. I would not change one thing about that evening.
Jeff and I would never have thought that would be the last time we would see our friend "Chip". How many people can say that their ex-husband and his wife spoiled you for your 70th birthday? You will be missed and remembered in the fondest of ways.

There are some people who know Harry by his given name and those who only know him as Chip. I wonder if any of you know how his name "Chip" came about. You maybe even thought that was his legal name. Since I was Harry's first wife, I know that he absolutely did not like the name Harry, nor did he like his middle name, George.
Before Harry became an officer in the USN, he went up through the enlisted ranks and became a Navy Chief. One day, someone came up to Harry and said "Hey Chief.......", as if he needed to speak with him about something. Listening ear thought they said Hey Chip, hence came the nickname Chip. Harry jumped at the new opportunity to change his name, even if it wasn't a legal name change.

When I was a little girl, we spent all night trying to get to Texas to celebrate Christmas. I was so tired, but I remember seeing “Santa” in grandpa’s house delivering presents. This gave me a burst of energy and revived my Christmas spirit. Grandpa always tried to make our moments together special, no matter how late in the night it was or how silly he had to dress up.

Dad helped me with a project and we ended up making a pyramid (mostly dad). In the middle of the night he realized that the pyramid was not built correctly so he got up in the middle of the night to fix it. He didn’t wake me, he just spent another few hours undoing and fixing what we had originally done.
