Harry's obituary

Harry Triantafillo, 74, of Whiting, IN, sailed off on his final voyage on February 9, 2025, at Jesse Brown Veterans Hospital. Born on June 19, 1950, in Chicago, IL, to Sam and Christine Triantafillo, Harry lived a life full of kindness, humility, and just the right amount of mischief.

A proud US Navy veteran, Harry served his country with honor before setting his sights on spinning records as a DJ—a job that let his love for music (and a good time) shine. Eventually, he swapped turntables for steering wheels, becoming a bus and limo driver. Harry could navigate Chicago and its suburbs like the back of his hand, impressing passengers with his encyclopedic knowledge of every shortcut, backroad, and hidden gem in the city.

Harry had a special place in his heart for cats and was the proud caretaker of five beloved feline companions. His gentle spirit and compassion extended to everyone he met, and he had a particular fondness for gracefully mature people, always treating them with the utmost respect and care.

Known for his simple, humble nature, Harry made those around him feel valued and appreciated. His siblings—John, Jeanette, Dean, and George—will deeply miss his unwavering support and occasional lighthearted jokes. His many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends will remember him as an amazing brother and uncle who brought joy and comfort to their lives.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Christine, and his brothers, Pete and Phillip. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Harry’s legacy of love, laughter, and humility lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. While we will miss his stories and his presence, we know he’s somewhere making others smile—and probably giving directions.
