The bluest eyes ever, and the most irresistible laugh. I miss Hattie so much. Deb Hunt
Hattie was a great friend at work. My first few years she was the "go to person" when I needed someone to explain this crazy higher education world to me. With the work she did with the medical school in the last few years, her impact will be felt by many future physician for many years to come.

2018, Hattie's Apartment
Every year during the Christmas season, which coincided with her birthday, Hattie hosted a tree-trimming/birthday party for the family at her place. It always culminated in the grandkids having a dance party on her bed and making quite a mess of the place. Hattie never seemed the least bit bothered by this. She had an amazing way of not sweating the small stuff and was just happy to have her family gathered together in celebration. Hattie had a gift for cutting through the noise and minor concerns of everyday life that bog the rest of us down, and just letting the important things shine through.

Hattie loved the opera. Andrew and I were so glad to be able to go with her to see Porgy & Bess at the Met Opera in February 2020. She was feeling crummy that weekend from the cancer meds, but she barely complained and didn't let that stand in the way of something she loved to do. We're so glad we got to have this outing with her shortly before COVID changed everything. This photo was taken on a different date, but it reminds me of that beautiful winter afternoon outing to the opera with Hattie.
Always ready and so present

Generous, confident, amazingly strong, witty, elegant

From cross country birthdays, annual gardening, early morning beach walks, elementary school recorder concerts, little league baseball games, middle school plays, diving competitions, meatballs with a blueberry surprise, Nicaragua, sand castle building, dumpling day, holiday tree trimming, hospital visits and the big ice cream challenge at Skipperdees – that one time she gathered the neighborhood kids to watch Max attempt to eat 24 scoops of ice cream topped with cookies, brownies, fudge and whipped cream

My children have grown up with her by their side

She is baked in them and her presence will forever guide them

We will continue to tend her roses and plant in the spring, we will continue to enjoy beach walks and summer evenings on the porch, and we will continue to gather with friends and family but

She will be missed and remembered in those moments and the many in between

Love you Hattie

Having been blessed to have Hattie as a work colleague for so many years, when I think of Hattie, I think of her infectious smile, the calming laugh, piercing blue eyes and all of the warmth that she projected. She taught me to never take work or life too seriously and to enjoy it all. She always put things into perspective. “The right perspective makes the impossible possible.” So smart in so many ways. No task was too big for her, not even Cancer because I am certain she fought that battle with so much grace and left the people she touched with a beautiful legacy.
Andrew and Chris and all others in your extended family:

Words fail me at times like this as one attempts to remember through more than thirty years of relationship with Hattie. While I cannot imagine your sense of loss, I also know that Hattie will be with us all for the rest of our lives.

Cindy and I send our deepest sympathies to all

Hattie, my wife, Cindy & I, along with Erika Schnittke would enjoy meeting once or twice a year along after Hattie left Metro-North. These events were very much anticipated and were marvelous conversations around professional work, personal lives and, of course, interesting gossip!!
Certainly, Hattie was so much more than a most valuable addition to Metro-North's Training and Development Department. Hattie could always be counted quickly understand an issue and to communicate it to all who needed to know. More than that, Hattie became a close personal friend and confidant in a relationship that lasted well beyond her days at Metro-North

Navigating NYIT as a newbie took some doing and wonderful Hattie was the first (and best) to take me under her wing. Full of warmth, humor, intelligence and just the right amount of snark, she always put everything into perspective. Her absence puts a hole in the universe.

My condolences to her family and all that loved her.

The best Aunt ever! So much fun when we were kids and so much I admired as an adult! So grateful to have had her in my life ♥️ I love you Aunt Hattie and I’m so happy you got to spend time with Carmella 🙏🏽 I’ll see you down the road 😘
So sad to hear about “Hattie”. We knew her in the 60 s when she was married to Dennis Connelly and living in the Village. We had gourmet dinners together and she was an excellent cook. She initiated a women s “consciousness group” in the early 70 s and we loved her sense of humor in her role as the facilitator . You needed a sense of humor and the absurd at that time.We were both pregnant at the same time and her oldest went to the same high school as my daughter.

We will remember her and the times we knew her.
