Harold's obituary
Harold Riehm Johnson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed
away peacefully on September 3, 2024, in Lakewood, Colorado, at the age of 91.
Harold was born in Chicago, Illinois, where he spent his formative years before embarking on a
life rich in love, family, and dedication. It was in Chicago where he met the love of his life, Marie
Wahlstrom, at the iconic Olympic Ice Cream Parlor. Their connection was instant, and together
they built a beautiful life, full of shared memories and unwavering commitment.
After marrying, Harold and Marie moved to South Holland, Illinois, where they raised their family.
They had three children: Raymond Johnson (deceased), Michael Johnson, and Ann Pruitt (Scott
Naatz, husband). His children were his pride and joy, and Harold always ensured they were
supported and loved throughout life’s journey.
Harold was blessed with five grandchildren: Raymond Johnson (Megan, wife), Clayton Pruitt,
Cameron Pruitt (Elizabeth, wife), Christian Pruitt (Caley, wife), and Jane Pruitt. His
grandchildren brought immense joy to his life, and he cherished every moment he spent with
them. Harold’s legacy continued to grow with the addition of his four great-grandchildren: Althea
Pruitt (Jane, mother), Hudson Johnson, and Tessa Johnson (Raymond and Megan, parents),
and Lucy Pruitt (Cameron and Elizabeth, parents).
In 2000, Harold and Marie relocated to Colorado to be closer to their growing family, and they
embraced this new chapter with enthusiasm. Whether he was sharing stories from his early
years in Chicago or attending family gatherings, Harold was the anchor of his family—a man of
quiet strength, loyalty, and love.
Harold will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, kindness, and
devotion to his family will endure. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Marie, his
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends who had the privilege of
knowing him.
A private family service will be held to honor his memory on October 5th 2024 in Lakewood
