Harold's obituary
Hal was born on November 23, 1968 in New London, Connecticut to Father Michael Jansen and Mother Phyllis (Lake) Champagne. He grew up in a loving family with two sisters, Cindy, and Elaine. At the age of seventeen Hal enlisted into the army where he proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged. Hal then moved to Wyoming where he attended Wyoming State University obtaining a bachelor’s in science.
After graduation, Hal landed his dream job at The Game and Fish. He then met his wife Rebecca, who he quickly fell in love with and happily took in her four kids, Kayla, Darren, Bridget, and Warren, that he would raise and love as his own. Hal and Rebecca continued to have two girls, Cynthia and Danielle. The couple got married on March 17,2001. When Rebecca became pregnant with Cynthia, Hal decided that a change in careers would be the best way to provide for his family, so he left The Game and Fish and began working for Coca Cola in 1998. Hal’s unmatched work ethic and leadership skills lead him to become apart of the Swire team and eventually become the Sales Center Manager in Denver Colorado.
Hal was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant the world to him, something he never failed to mention. He was unendingly proud of his wife and children. He always supported them through any situation.
Hal was also deeply passionate about the outdoors and could often be found out fishing on his boat or in the woods on his next great hunting trip when he wasn’t at home. He was very passionate and energetic about any project or activity he chose to begin. Even after being diagnosed with stage four cancer he was not deterred. His response to the news was, how he was going to fight it and get as much time with his family as he could. He continued living everyday to the fullest and never let the diagnosis pull him down. His bright loving personality stayed with him even through his final days.
Anyone who knew Hal knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Hal was predeceased by his father Michael Jansen and son Darren. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Jansen, their children, Kayla Mickelson (Spouse Dan Mickelson), Bridget Rutter (Spouse Nathan Rutter), Warren Jansen, Cynthia Jansen, Danielle Jansen, his grandchildren, Hailey Mickelson, Eli Jansen, Declan Mickelson, Adelina Rutter, Lilian Rutter, his mother Phyllis Champagne (Spouse Robert Champagne), and his sisters Cindy Jansen, and Elaine Jansen.
Hal requested to be cremated. His ashes will be held in the care of his wife Rebecca and their children. A wake will be held on Saturday July 11th for any family and friends who wish to attend. It will be held at Denver Museum of Nature and Science beginning at 6 o’clock to 9 o’clock.
