Harold's obituary

Harold Cruz, 77, of Queens, New York, peacefully passed away on October 26, 2024 after a number of health issues. Harold was a fighter, he was strong and loved life. No matter what life threw at him he fought. He will always be remembered as a fighter.

Harold was a hard working young man and dedicated his life to both his career and his family. Harold was the type of person that extended a helping hand whenever he could. Harold took trade school courses to polish his knowledge of plumbing, electricity and woodworking. This kickstarted a longstanding career as a superintendent. He was constantly reading to gain knowledge and would take every opportunity to learn from others. He would then share his knowledge with everyone willing to learn.

Born in Las Marias, Puerto Rico to Juan Cruz Avile and Rosita Velez, Harold was a father, grandfather, Godfather and friend. Harold has been with his wife, Isabel Cruz for 55 years and went on to have 6 children. Harold put family first, always, and was a dedicated father. He would work hard but his children remember the excitement of being dismissed from school on Friday and being picked up to go on adventures with him. His children went on to pursue careers in engineering, as a building superintendent, concierge, teacher and tow truck driver. Harold was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family.

Harold was also a passionate woodworker and a fishing enthusiast. However, he stopped fishing upon watching a video of a Koy fish responding to its owner. He said he couldn't do it anymore, after knowing they were so aware. This showed his softer side. Unfortunately , he spent most of his retirement ill due to diabetes and did not get to enjoy his favorite pastimes.

Harold was predeceased by his father, mother and sisters and leaves behind his children, grandchildren and Goddaughter who he dearly loved.  Services have already been held. Therefore, the family requests no donations or flowers be sent via this site.
