Hailey's obituary

It is with great sorrow that the family of Hailey Anne Oristian announce her sudden and unexpected death on August 10, 2023 of undetermined natural causes . She was 20 years old.

Hailey was born in 2003 in Silver Spring, MD. She grew up in Poolesville and Gaithersburg where she lived with her family.

Hailey graduated from Quince Orchard High School as valedictorian in 2021 and was a member of multiple honor societies. She was a Captain of her high school Poms dance team where she served as a compassionate and empowering leader for her teammates for several years.

Hailey was enrolled at Clemson University (her father’s alma mater) where she was expected to graduate with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice in 2024. Her dream was to continue her education in graduate school and eventually become a forensic psychologist. Hailey was also a devoted sister of the Alpha Phi sorority at Clemson University.

Hailey was a brilliant and curious student, committed to learning and growth, and generous with her time and kindness to friends and family. She was graceful in spirit, loyal to others, and her luminous smile was always authentic and welcoming. Hailey’s passion for dance and working with children led her to Bella Ballet in the Kentlands when she was 14 years old, and she taught dance and mentored many young dancers there until her passing. The students and teachers cherished every summer when she would return to teach.

She is survived by her mother and best friend, Meaghann Stevens Diez and her stepfather Carlos Diez Jr., her devoted father Dave Oristian and stepmother Jenny Oristian, and siblings Jade, McKenzie, Alyssa, Cameron and Anthony and dogs Rocky and Champ. She is also survived by her loving grandparents Thomas Francis and Sharon Ann Stevens, Dr. Eric Alfred and Laurie Anne Oristian, Russell Edward and Rita Lynn Dodson, Carlos Ernesto and Caroline Eva Diez, and John Joseph and Beverly Jean Lubenetski, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
