Paul's obituary
Westport, Connecticut - H. Paul Comisar, a beloved figure in the Rochester community, passed away peacefully on March 26th at the age of 90. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Paul Comisar was born in Rochester, New York, to Benjamin and Clara Comisar. He attended Benjamin Franklin High School, where he excelled academically and broke records that lasted for decades in butterfly swim. Paul continued his education at Colgate University, where he further distinguished himself both academically and as a varsity swimmer, and went on to attend Albany Law School of Union University, where he honed his skills in the legal profession.
Throughout his life, Paul was known for his unwavering dedication to making a difference in the lives of others. As one of the great general practitioner attorneys in Rochester, he built a practice that not only provided legal counsel but also supported the community in numerous ways. His integrity, diligence, and commitment earned him the respect and admiration of his clients and peers.
Paul's greatest focus and passion, however, was for his family. There was rarely a day or span of hours that he was separated from the love of his life Barbie. He was the North star to his children, speaking to each one every day. He could not have been prouder of the success and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Paul was the constant in the lives of his family, providing a generational bond and stewardship that is his greatest legacy.
Paul will also be remembered for his gregarious nature, sense of humor, and the ability to light up the room with conversation, spontaneous song, and impromptu speech. He touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Barbara, his children Daniel, Peter, and Rachel, daughters-in-law Cheryl and Susie, and son-in-law Michael Steib. He was blessed with grandchildren Jenna, Alex, Jake, Matthew, Bradley, Zachary, Blake, Flint, Benjamin, Jessica, and Caroline, as well as a great-grandson, Bodi. He is also survived by his brother Arthur and sister-in-law Betsy.
Paul will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who had the privilege of knowing him on his life journey.
