It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Guy Seymour, a beacon in the field of psychology and a cherished family man, who passed away on February 24, 2025. Born on October 19, 1945, Guy lived an extremely impactful life, steadfastly committed to his loved ones and to his vocation. His achievements in life will continue to inspire many, and his memory will be cherished by those who had the fortune to know him.

Survived by his sons, AJ and Collin, and his daughter, Paige, Guy was a devoted father and mentor. His tenacity and determination were traits that were deeply ingrained in his character. He was supportive and faithful, always promoting the pursuit of interests without abandoning loved passions. His words of wisdom, as well as his caring demeanor, will be fondly remembered.

Guy’s professional contributions to the field of psychology are noteworthy. He was published in multiple psychology journals and made a significant difference in many lives through his mentorship of minority psychologists. As one of the founders of the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology (formerly known as NMTP) at Boston City Hospital, and its director for many years, he made a significant impact. Furthermore, he developed stress management programs for fire and police services in several cities, and was the Chief Psychologist for the City of Atlanta for many years. Additionally, he was instrumental in developing the field of public safety psychology, epitomizing his dedication to public service and mental health.

His legacy is one of promoting diversity, tolerance, and understanding for mental health in public safety departments, as well as a legacy of excellence in psychology. He had an intense love for opera and classical music, a passion he successfully instilled in his children and family. His imprint on both his personal and professional communities is indelible.
