Gregory's obituary

Gregory Harold Tofte, 72, of Tofte, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family following a battle with cancer on November 28, 2024.

Greg was born on August 6, 1952, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Orton and Margaret (Anderson) Tofte. He grew up in Tofte and graduated from Cook County High School and Golden Valley Lutheran College. Greg was an accomplished and gifted builder and crafted many beautiful homes along the North Shore throughout his career.

Greg is survived by his wife of 44 years, Meg Tofte; his children, Hans (Karissa) Tofte and Bjorn (Andrea Molina) Tofte; his cherished grandchildren, Magnus, Vincent, and Raphael; his siblings, Orton Jr. (Karen), Terry (Rebecca), Margaret (Bill Altemus), Ellie (Jeff Holte), Brian (Kelly), and Scott (Brenda); and 21 nieces and nephews. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Sally Tofte, brother-in-law David Wilks, and his two older brothers, Michael and Kirk.

Greg will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, his unwavering optimism that inspired those around him, and his deep love for his family and friends, of which there were many. Above all, spending time with each of his grandsons was the greatest joy of his life.

A celebration of Greg’s life will be held in Tofte in the spring. Details regarding the time and location will be shared when available.
