Gregory P. Purdy

Gregory P. Purdy, lovingly known as "Santa," passed away peacefully at his home on January 19, 2025, at the age of 68 from Biventricular Heart Failure and a broken heart following the loss of his beloved wife, Sharon Koda-Purdy.
Born on March 13, 1956, Gregory was the youngest boy of 15 siblings and one of the cherished sons of John Purdy and Rose Pucci-Purdy. Predeceased by his parents, his wife Sharon, and siblings John Jr., Rosemarie, Ruth, Mary, and Louis, Gregory is survived by a large, loving family who will forever honor his memory.
Gregory leaves behind his devoted son Gregory P. Letendre, daughter-in-law Daniela R. Letendre, granddaughter Phoenix Letendre, grandson Giovanni Letendre, stepdaughter Christina Bertolf, stepson Gus Bertolf, stepdaughter-in-law Melissa Bertolf, and step-grandson William Ronnlund. He is also survived by his siblings Francis, Effie, Patricia, Barbara, Peggy, Floyd, Dennis, Joseph, and Chester, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Gregory was a man of many trades and talents. He worked as a commercial fisherman, tow truck driver, and mechanic, embodying the hardworking spirit of his generation. He also formally partnered in a fish market business in Stamford, CT, where he left a lasting memory in the community. Known for his warmth and generous heart, Gregory found great joy in playing Santa Claus during the Christmas season, bringing smiles to countless children and earning the nickname "Santa."
Above all, Gregory was a family man who deeply loved and cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings. His home was a place of laughter, love, and connection, and his presence was a source of strength and comfort to those around him.
Gregory will be remembered not only for his skills and hard work but also for his kind soul, deep love for his family, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and humor.
Services will be held to celebrate Gregory’s life and legacy on Saturday, February 1st at 9:30 am at St Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside CT.
