I would like to share my memory of Greg and his quite kindness and support.  Sheri and I were working together in Seattle.  He had come to take Sheri to lunch for her Birthday, it was also the day I got my cancer diagnosis.  They came back from lunch with a cookie for me, Greg thought I needed something sweet to help me through the rest of the day.  Greg was a quite supporter during that time and after.  We often shared fun times at parties and discussing movies.   I remember the love they shared and his support of Sheri through her career.

I remember when Greg and Sheri first started dating/getting to know each other.  She called the house one night asking for "Gregory".  I'm sorry, who?  She asked again, may I please speak to Gregory?  Sure!  I put the phone down on the counter and yelled for Greg.

"Oh GREGORY!  Phone call!  and its a GIRL!!!"

Greg came running up the stairs and into the kitchen to answer the phone glaring at me for what I had said knowing the girl on the other end of the phone had probably heard me.  He picked up the phone and started talking to Sheri and the look on his face immediately changed to something I had never seen on him before.  He was going to fall in love with her if he hadn't already.

I don't remember how long the call lasted, but after he hung up and walked out of the kitchen, I was informed to not do that again.  I'm pretty sure he and I raced to see who could answer the phone first after that.  And he got even with me not long after.

I was just starting to get to know/date a guy who had to figure out what my phone number was (I left the very last number off - hey it only left 10 random calls!)  Greg answered, the guy asked if I was available.  Greg's immediate response was "No, I'm sorry, she left to join the foreign legion and was shot at dawn" and proceeded to hang up the phone.

When Greg came out to visit just before Halloween last year, he and I were sitting at the table chatting about what seemed to be everything and nothing.  He told me then that he knew the exact moment that I learned how to fight back and he was proud of me.

We were kids (8 & 12 ish?) and we had gotten into a fight- Greg had done something and as his little sister I got the blame per usual.  I decided that day to take his toothbrush and LOAD it with soap.  He didn't realize anything until he went to brush his teeth before bed and got a mouth full of soap & toothpaste.  He immediately told Dad and I got in trouble (again).   As I sat there listening to Dad tell me why what I had done was wrong, Greg stood behind him looking like well, Greg.  He always had "that look" since forever.  However this look also had a look of shock, pride, and "Ok, she fights back, NOW WHAT".

Afterwards, Greg asked who taught me to do something like that.  I looked at him and told him in no uncertain terms "YOU did!"

I had never met Greg, but when Sheri mentioned her husband if we chatted in the coffee area at work, she spoke about him with love, a twinkle in her eye and a very fond smile.  Thinking of you Sheri and sending my most sincere condolences to you and your daughters.  You are in my thoughts and heart.   Love, Flavia
