Gregory's obituary
The Lord called and sent his angels to release our Gregory from his earthly body and guide him home Saturday, Oct 12, 2024.
Greg, age 73, was born in Minneapolis August 28, 1951, to Russell Edward Nygard and Hazel Judith Nygard (Kvale). Greg graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. While in the Army as a Redeye from 1971-1972, Greg was awarded the National Defense Service medal and the Sharp Shooter M-16 medal. He enrolled in Anoka Technical College’s auto mechanic and truck diesel program, graduating in 1985.
Left to mourn: wife Jeanine Nygard, Isanti, MN, daughters Sarah Nygard (George), grandchildren Erica, Alisa, Jason, Jadin, Julia, great granddaughter Evelyn, Motley, MN, daughter Tara Resa (Jon), grandsons Evan and Kyle, Lindstrom, MN, sisters Judy Tryggeseth, Motley, MN, and Pam Berg (Jerry), East Gull Lake, MN, and many nephews and nieces.
Predeceased by parents, sisters Sandy Folwarski and Christine Nygard, brother Douglas Nygard, and daughter Shannon Nygard.
Greg was a personable, patriotic, humble, gentle spirited, loving man, who enjoyed hunting, “tinkering” with mechanics and playing with his grandkids. His greatest achievement was being a loving grandfather to his 10 grandchildren & great granddaughter. Greg and Jeanine married July 9, 1983, divorced, and remarried October 18, 2002. In his life, as many have, he experienced love, trials and tribulations. He “found his way” and his message to others was “Be good to yourself and have peace with the Lord.”
Greg’s wish is that his grandchildren remember him by learning the Lord’s Prayer.
Many thanks to Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St Paul for their compassion and care in Greg’s final days.
