Gregory Douglas Lowery, known affectionately as Greg, passed away on August 22, 2024, at the age of 74 in Dayton, Ohio. Born on April 12, 1950, in San Francisco, California, Greg's early affinity for music and humor blossomed into defining elements of his life.
A cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Greg's legacy is marked by his deep love for his family and friends, his faith, and his extraordinary musical talent. A gifted drummer, he played with several successful bands, sharing his passion for music far and wide. Beyond music, Greg was a respected businessman, having owned and operated GDLC Roofing, among other ventures throughout his career as a financial planner and contractor.
Greg's personal interests included playing golf, racquetball, and cards. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Ohio State Buckeyes, bringing the same enthusiasm to cheering for his teams as he did to all aspects of his life.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Kay Lowery; children, Andrew Lowery (Kristin), Alexa Lowery (Eric Riddick), Taylor Lowery (Jordan Wider), and Ariana Lowery (Vaughn Anton); grandchildren, Drew Lowery and Isla Wider ; siblings, Rob Lowery (Lynn), Susan Lowery, Teresa Holderman (Tim), and Shelly Sapp (Buddy, Hagan) and many more family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Dorry Lowery, and sister Karin Minor (Bob).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church, 7505 Taylorsville Road, Huber Heights, Ohio, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Greg can be made to The Heart Association, honoring his generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others. Greg's memory will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him, and he is now at peace, reunited with his beloved parents and sister in heaven.
