Greg's obituary

Gregory “Greg” John Loncola passed away on April 25, 2024 at the age of 66, in his home in Cedar Park, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Darice Brooks-Loncola, step-daughter Lesley Brooks, son-in-law Zach Murphree, grandchildren Nolan and Jake Murphree, brother Michael Loncola with sister-in-law Eileen Loncola, and sister Claudia Harbourt with brother-in-law Paul Harbourt and their children Jason, Layne, and Patton. He is also survived, remarkably, by the majority of his favorite band, The Rolling Stones. He is preceded in death by his mother Irene Violet Sharek and father John Michael Loncola, and beloved pets Samson, Delilah, Buster, Muffin, Elki, and Bodhi.

Greg was born on May 13, 1957 in Plainfield, New Jersey. He spent his childhood in New Jersey with fond memories of running track in high school and spending time with family. He attended Villanova University before leaving the northeast for his new-found home in Texas. He loved adventure in his youth and spent his days bodybuilding, riding his motorcycle, and scuba diving. He was a welcoming friend and great lover of dogs.

It is in Austin, Texas that he met his wife Carol and her daughter Lesley and in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 14, 1995 that Greg and Carol were wed. The years that followed were happy ones, not without their hardships and troubles, but never without love. Greg was a devoted husband, proud father, and doting grandfather. His knowledge of sports and movie trivia was unrivaled and his love of The Rolling Stones unwavering.

Greg will be celebrated in a private family ceremony. Please consider donating to the American Kidney Fund in his honor and remembrance.
