Greg's obituary

The family of Gregory (Greg) Blair Gargus sadly announce his unexpected passing July 1, 2024 in Medford, Oregon.  Greg was born in Montebello, California on September 13, 1956.  He grew up in San Juan Capistrano and attended school in San Clemente, California.  As a teen growing up on the beaches of Southern California, he chased adventure and fun.  He grew up surfing the waves of Trestles beach,  skiing the slopes of Big Bear, and racing motorcycles competitively.  He was a devoted and loving son and brother.

Family was everything to Greg.  Eventually settling in Ashland, Oregon, his four children remember his exciting sense of adventure, which often led them to new places and outdoor pursuits as a family.  He was an avid white water rafter, and one of our favorite memories includes the annual family camping and rafting trip on the Umpqua river.

Greg had many hobbies and interests, which included an eclectic music collection, watercolor painting, sailing, traveling, and rafting.  He was a skilled woodworker and pool designer/builder, weaving together his artistic nature with his professional life.  No matter what he was doing, Greg always approached life with a sense of humor, which he passed onto his children, who can retell many of his animated jokes and stories.

In his later life, Greg continued adventuring as he divided his time between Oregon and Canada.  He had many friends and will be remembered especially for his generosity, always there to help someone in need.  He is survived by his father, George Gargus; stepmother, Betty Gargus; brother, George (Buddy) Gargus; four children, Shauna Safady, Rochelle (Rikki) Rector,  Grace Park, and Mackenzie (Mack) Gargus; eight granddaughters, Ila, Amalah, Ruby, Noura, Josephine, Louisa, Sloane and Ada; great grandson, Branch; Nephews, Derek and Kyle; and fiancee, Cindy.

GO DODGERS!!!!

A memorial service will be held at Paschal Winery and Vineyard on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 from 11:00am-3:00pm.  Guests are encouraged to come with stories to share about Greg.  Food and wine will be served as well as popsicles (Greg's favorite) for dessert.  1122 Suncrest Rd, Talent, OR 97540.
