Update from April 28, 2021

a message from Greg's wife, Bonnie.

"Hi everyone, since I don't have control of the website itself, I thought I would give an update here. Greg's ashes and custom Urn are both on the way, I expect to have them both by next week. I will post a picture of the Urn upon receiving.

I want to thank everyone for their kind wishes, memories and contributions, both known and unknown from this site.

And although this is and will be a extremely emotional time for me, I would like to give my Sissy Shannon a special thank you for being my rock through this ♥.

Thanks again. NEVER forget Greg, he was one hell of a man!"

In loving memory of Gregory "Red" Allen Forbes, we are saddened to announce their passing on Sunday, April 18, 2021. He passed away peacefully at 9:15pm with his wife, Bonnie sitting with him and the Braves playing in the background.

4/14/21 Home hospice has been set up completely now. Greg is very glad to be able to be in his home, comfortable and be able to be surrounded by family and friends. He is so thankful for his guests today and is in good spirits. A few pictures are in the comments from today.

4/13/21 Honoring Greg's wishes he was moved to his home and is under hospice care until his passing. He and Bonnie are open to and welcome any friends and family who would like to come visit with him. With hospice nurses coming and going daily to help keep him comfortable they are asking if you could call Bonnie 1st to let her know when you would like visit. If you feel more comfortable with visiting over the phone that is fine as well, it would mean so much to Greg and Bonnie for any thoughtfulness of any kind at this time. If you are unable to reach them or would like any updates you can email me, Shannon, at shagreen79@gmail.com. Things are and will continue to change by the hour. We are all thankful for the remaining time we have with him, we want to fill it with as much love and kindness as possible.

Mr. Gregory "Red" Allen Forbes, 61, of Clarkston, Georgia, peacefully passed away at 9:15pm on Sunday, April 18th, 2021 at home with his wife Bonnie by his side, after a short but difficult battle with lung cancer.

On January 6th, 1960 during a winter storm Greg was almost born in a taxi on the way to the hospital, thankfully they made it and he was born healthy to Donald and Becky Forbes in New York …

I am writing to you today to let you know about the impending loss of our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle & Friend Greg Allen Forbes. Greg was diagnosed with end stage lung cancer in February. This all happened so suddenly and unexpectedly. We all know he is a fighter and not one to give up easily. He fought both with accepting this tragic turn of events as well as trying to fight with chemotherapy treatments. His battle with the cancer has quickly overcome his body & has been unbearable. Greg is currently in hospice at Grady Memorial receiving palliative care at this time. Time is fleeting, with every moment feeling both like an eternity and going faster that his favorite nascar driver. He sadly does not have many moments left. He would love to hear from you now, please don't be afraid to call him as time is slipping away fast. We are absolutely devastated by Greg's impending passing and are struggling to find the funds to cover the cost of the cremation services. Based on researching the costs of a simple cremation & his wishes, there will be no service at this time. However, there will be a celebration of life for him this summer. Please consider donating if you are able to do so. This will help his wife Bonnie with costs of cremation and urn. We are so very grateful for every donation during this difficult time.
