Gregory's obituary
Gregory “Greg” Lee Clegg
June 10, 1959 – July 3, 2025
Gregory “Greg” Lee Clegg passed away on July 3, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida, at the age of 66. Born on June 10, 1959, in Muncie, Indiana, Greg lived a life full of humor, heart, and hugs—a man whose presence filled every room and whose love touched every person lucky enough to know him.
Greg proudly served in the U.S. Army during the 1970s, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and strength. After his service, he continued to live with passion and purpose, becoming a dedicated family man and a loyal friend to many.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda Clegg, along with his son and five daughters: Rendi Clegg (granddaughter Maelee Alexander, grandsons Lucas Alexander, Kaden Alexander and Isaac Alexander), Samantha Clegg, Alexandria Clegg (granddaughter Annaliece Radford), Melinda Wampner (grandson Dreydon Wampner), Sophia Sutton, and Joshua Allen (granddaughters Nikki Mae Allen and Jenna Rae Allen). He loved his children and grandchildren fiercely, and his role as a father/grandfather was one he cherished most. Greg was also survived by four siblings, Rich Stafford, Debra Ellis, Beverly Zapfe, and Terry Clegg.
Greg was a motorcycle enthusiast—he liked to joke that he spent some time in a “motorcycle enthusiasts club,” his own endearing way of referring to what others might call a biker gang. He had a deep love for music and took great joy in sharing his favorite songs with the people he loved. Known for his warmth and humor, Greg was famous for never letting anyone pass by without a hug and a kiss. He was the kind of man who made fast friends and lasting impressions. If you knew him, you loved him.
Even after undergoing brain surgery 15 years ago, Greg kept his quick wit. Whenever he had a slip of the tongue, he’d laugh and say, “I just had brain surgery,” turning vulnerability into laughter, like only he could.
A celebration of Greg’s extraordinary life will be held on August 2, 2025, at the Kitley Inn located at 825 Kitley Avenue in Indianapolis, Indiana. 2 Pm- 6 PM. Friends and loved ones are invited to come share stories, music, laughter, and hugs—just the way Greg would have wanted.
