Our deepest condolences to Olena and the the family. While I first got to know Greg as a competitor and one of THE premier softball players in the Ottawa Valley, I really got to know him when he joined our team (Premier Property) in the 1990s; and what a talent he was!! Great glove, unbelievable bat, and the heart of a lion! A true leader and clutch player. But he was SO much more than that. A true gentleman whose love for Olena and family was always evident...and we have had the distinct pleasure of being entertained by Greg & Olena, and experiencing their oasis and soft tub!! Chrissie (my wife) and I have many cherished memories of Greg, but one of my favorite was when we would play golf, and he would use a driver whose head always looked like it was about to fall off, would flick his wrists with barely a backswing and hit the ball close to 300 yards...! He was a gift on many levels...may he rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear about Greg's passing. He was my first scuba instructor, and had it not been for his perseverance, and help mastering the mask removal and donning skill, I wouldn't be the diver I am today. Greg opened up an incredible underwater world for me. I remember going to Olena's mom's house, where Greg helped both of us with this skill. We both got certified, and Greg found the love of his life. My deepest condolences to you and your family Olena.

Greg has been a part of my life for a few years now, and grew to become like family to me while away from my family in Kingston. I used my first chop saw, mitre saw, palm sander, drill, learned how to paint, bottled wine, and much more because of Greg; which lead to a passion of being able to fix/do things all by myself confidently. When working on a home project, he would bring out the cd radio and test me on which rock band was playing - leaving me obvious hints to make it easier for me while dancing and playing air guitar. We shared too many inside jokes to count, even leaving his wife Olena confused at times while we laughed together. Greg always repeated a piece of advice to me, "When that twinkle in your eye turns to a fire, remember he must be handy, he must be funny, and he better know how to dance!" Whenever I think of Greg, a smile comes across my face and I can’t help but hear him say, "Packers Baby!" May you rest in peace, my dear friend.

Sincere condolences to Olena and family. So sorry to hear of Greg's passing. He was well respected by many friends and colleagues. He had many passions in life and of course his dear Olena. I knew Greg both as a softball player and then as a fellow umpire with the EOUA. He was a true family man. He will be missed by many. RIP Greg.
