Greg's obituary
Greg E. Ferran, 62, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children, loved ones, and girlfriend Angie Ferrell on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Parkview Hospital. Born on Friday, July 13, 1962 in South Bend, Indiana, Greg was the second child of the late Nancy Thomas and Lawrence Eugene Ferran.
He later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he began a storied career in the grocery industry. His strong sense of integrity, respect, and compassion made him well-equipped for the many leadership roles he held for over 40 years. He served as an advocate, friend, and inspiration to his many employees and colleagues.
Being a father, “paw paw,” and “papa” was his most prized role. His enduring legacy lives on in his three children, eight grandchildren, and the many others for whom he was a paternal figure. As a lifelong fan of rock ‘n’ roll, music was Greg’s language and his solace; he was also an avid Notre Dame football fan, and he shared both of these loves with all who bonded with him. He loved spending time at his family cabin located on Ferran Road in Brethren, Michigan; and he had a passion for attending auctions, collecting antiques, and all kinds of novelties.
Greg is survived by his children Nick (Christi) Hille-Ferran, Brooke (Joey) Bendele, and Zach (Brooke) Ferran; his grandchildren Kaiya, Ainsley, Macy, Lincoln, Archie, Rowan, Graham, and Teegan; his older sister Dawn Ferran; his nephew Alex (Kylie Campion) George; his niece Hillary George; and many other friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A public celebration of Greg’s life will take place at Fort Wayne Cinema Center (437 E. Berry Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802) on Monday, January 13 from 4 to 8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly asks that you please consider a contribution to assist with medical and end-of-life costs. A memorial fundraiser can be found at everloved.com/life-of/greg-fe….
