Greer's obituary
It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the sudden passing of our dearest loved one: Greer Kirsten Glasper (affectionately called "Gee Gee" by her family), a resident of Rowlett, Texas and a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 60, departing this life on Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Rowlett, Texas.
Greer was the second of four children born to Berlin Milton and Willie Jean Glasper, Sr., of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was baptized at an early age with her siblings at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and retained her membership until her death.
She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and received Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Southern University in Baton Rouge. She began her career long ago in college by volunteering in Information Systems Division at Southern University and was hired as a Computer Operator. She later became a Computer Programmer at IBM New York but had other assignments throughout the United States and England. She was also a volunteer EMT in upstate New York.
For the past 20 years, Greer has enjoyed working as an IT Specialist in Technology at Southwest Airlines in Dallas, Texas. She achieved one of her lifelong goals of becoming a member of the metropolitan Dallas chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Greer was an avid reader, loved science and crime shows, movies - especially westerns, and the theatre. Like her father, she was good at trivia, news, and history but her absolute passions were volunteering for the Southwest Airlines Spirit Disaster Team; the American Red Cross; Children's Health Hospital; the Diversity Network; and Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) at SMU in Dallas. Other interests included music; electronics; genealogy; and photography but she really loved spending time with family and friends; raising her dogs; attending football games; and traveling.
She is survived by her devoted father: Berlin M. Glasper, Sr.; her siblings: Iris F. Glasper of Rowlett, Texas; Beryl G. and Herbert Isom of Stonecrest, Georgia; Berlin M. and Cherease W. Glasper, Jr. of Pearland, Texas; her precious niece and nephews: Sierra A. Glasper; Darion A. Isom; Berlin M. Glasper, III.; Braedon R. Isom; and Aiden M. Glasper; two aunts: Billie Mildred Johnson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Veria Glasper of Benton Harbor, Michigan; numerous cousins and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her dear mother: the late Willie Jean Glasper; paternal and maternal grandparents; great grandparents; aunts and uncles; and numerous other relatives.
Our sincere gratitude is extended to her doctors; nurses; staff; clergy; and friends for their prayers; many contributions; and dedicated service and care to our loved one. Per final wishes and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation or repast. Local Cremation & Funerals in Dallas are in charge of arrangements. Her final resting place will be Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens in Baton Rouge.
