Grady's obituary

Grady McGovern passed away in his sleep on January 28, 2025 at the age of 46. Grady spent nearly his entire life in Northfield, MN as a beloved father, brother, and son.

Grady attended St. Dominic elementary school and graduated from Northfield High School in 1996, Grady starred in Basketball and Baseball as well as captain of the Football team. He went on to St. John's University where he was a standout Football and Baseball player. One of his prides was being featured in the book “The Sweet Season” about St. Johns football and written by famed Sports Illustrated author, Austin Murphy. After college Grady earned his Masters in Art Education from St. Catherine’s University and was an Art teacher in Northfield and Lakeville. Grady also coached American Legion baseball and was an assistant football coach at Northfield High School. Most recently Grady worked at Little Hill Berry Farm in Northfield. Grady’s biggest pride though was his son Jadyn McGovern, who he raised and coached throughout his youth.

Grady is survived by his son Jadyn, parents Mike and Ann McGovern, siblings Cam McGovern, Ryan (Carrie) McGovern, Casey (Wendy) McGovern, Molly (Aaron) Wills, as well as his nieces and nephews Megan, Lauren, Evie, Fintan, Stella, Margot, Zola, Beckett, Ben, and LuElla.

Mass of Christian Burial for Grady will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7 at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield. Visitation will be held before Mass from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at church. Interment will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
