Gordon's obituary
Gordon was born to the late Everett and Rita Wickens, a Director of Pensions for the Government of Alberta and a Homemaker respectively, and his Brother Earl (Virginia) and late sister Carol (Murray) Hodges, May 09, 1942 in Edmonton, AB. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. He graduated from the University of Calgary in 1970 with a degree in Education and accepted a position as a high school teacher he would teach for 38 years, and eventually move on to be a Principal.
Gordon was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend Betty Lynn Hagstrom, November 02, 1963 in Edmonton, AB at Fundamental Baptist Church. Gordon helped raise his four children with patience, discipline and humility. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the bible.
Gordon was an educator at heart. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Betty Wickens; his sons: Trever (Tanya) Wickens, Kent (Caroline) Wickens and Todd (Jackie) Wickens; his daughter: LeeAnne (Wayne)Sissons; his grandchildren Drew, Anna (Bryn), Olivia (Lucas) Statham, Josiah (Juliya) Wickens, Kaitlynn, Benjamin, Mariah, Taylor, Ella, Ayden, Josh (Michelle), Javin, Brittney, Arielle, and Courtenay.
