Gordon's obituary
After service in the U.S. Air Force, Gordon began a career with AT&T in Chicago, IL. After retiring from AT&T in New Jersey, he formed Eagle Management Inc., a community association management firm which later focused on swimming pool services.
In addition to membership in numerous model railroading clubs in the Phoenix area, Gordon served as an EMT with the Clinton NJ First Aid & Rescue Squad; as a docent at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC; and as an information aid at the Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in AZ.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 30+ years, Joan (Romano) Clark, several cousins, two nephews, a niece and many friends. His parents and a sister Karen (Clark) Cruz pre-deceased him. He was a creative, intelligent, enthusiastic and kind person. His passions included photography, aviation, model railroading, art and travel. Before his illness, Gordon was an instrument-rated private pilot.
As several friends commented after his death “he was quite a character.” He connected with people, kept in touch with friends; and remembered people and their stories. He had fond memories of Chicago and southern Illinois; Oxford, England; all of France; Washington, DC; and Phoenix, Arizona – all places he lived. He achieved his goal of retiring to Arizona; but, unfortunately due to the effects of Parkinsonism never got to fully enjoy it.
As an Air Force veteran, he will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery (date pending) overlooking a city he loved.
Remember him with smile and a kind deed.
