Gordon's obituary

Gordon Lee Brown, Jr., was born on July 7, 1950, in Meridian, Mississippi. He attended Sumter County Schools and graduated from Sumter County High School in 1968. He went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Livingston University in 1972, where he was an active member of the Livingston Chapter of Delta Chi Fraternity.

In March of 1972, he married the love of his life, Edith Baker. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and community.

Gordon Lee was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church, where he served faithfully as both a Lay Speaker and Choir Director. A passionate Auburn fan and model train enthusiast, he spent over 20 years as a cherished member of the Queen City Model Railroad Club.

Known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering friendliness, Gordon Lee never met a stranger. Once he considered you a friend, you were a friend for life. He loved not only people, but animals as well. He has had many beloved pets in his lifetime, but his dachshund/chihuahua mix Peanut was his by his side for 14 years before her passing in 2016.

He passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at Princeton Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family. He was 74 years old.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Gordon Lee and Eloise Brown and grand-daughter Jessica Renee Pinion. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Edith Baker Brown, children Brandi Lapriorie, Kristi Ware (Dargan), Sid Brown (Tracy), grandchildren Brandon Pinion, Amanda Weldy (Josh), Brianna Pinion, Bobby Martin, Olivia Martin, Mary Gordon Martin, Christian Wilson, and Maddie Wilson as well as numerous cousins.
