Gordie's obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Gordie Budd on December 27, 2023.  Gordie bravely faced ALS for nearly three years and then left this world for his next adventure, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 15,1951, in Saskatoon,  where his interests were primarily hockey and music of which he was passionately involved in both his whole life.  The many bands he played in were a special joy to him. He started his first band called the Worlocks when he was just fifteen years old. Then went on to form countless other bands throughout his life along with a successful solo career. He has released at least a dozen full length albums as well as many singles.

Gord had successful career in real estate for nearly two decades before the family relocated to Victoria BC where he realized his lifelong dream of opening a music store. He ran that store with the help of his son Dallas for twenty years. Gordie retired in 2019, was diagnosed with ALS in 2021 and moved with Heather to assisted living on beautiful Salt Spring Island in 2023.

Gordie left a lasting imprint on all who knew him. His strength of character, sense of humor, and unconditional love will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind his wife Heather, his sons Judah and Dallas, his daughters Eliza and Theresa,  his brother Neil, six beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  Gordie's memory will continue to live on through his music, his family and the many lives he touched throughout his life. During this time of loss, we remember Gordie for the love, warmth, and joy he brought to the world.

We invite those who knew Gordie to honour his life by sharing memories and stories, remembering him not only for his departure but also for his vibrant, meaningful life.

His celebration of life will be featuring live music by his musical family at the Edelweiss club in Victoria May 4, from 2pm to 5pm. There will also be a ticketed event that night which will feature Dallas' Latin band La Chuparosa from 8pm to 11pm.
