Gloria's obituary
We announce with great sadness the passing of Gloria Wright on August 29, 2025. Born on December 16, 1957, she was a beacon of strength and compassion, touching all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Despite any family differences and strain, Gloria's warm aura and big-heartedness will truly be missed.
She is survived by her loving son, Jason Wheeler and numerous nieces, nephews, and siblings, including Lynn Grissom, Tony Aldridge, Antonio (Tony) Aldridge, Melissa Bishop, Darlene Wright-Owens, Dennis (Duke) Youngblood-Hammonds, Jarrett Sammons, and Kaley Hardin. She is preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Gossett, and her mother, Rebecca Deen Aldridge Sammons.
In life, Gloria was deeply respected for her dedication to her work as a home health care giver and for her unwavering devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As part of Gloria's vibrant spirit, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, tuning in to crime and historical documentaries, and soothing her soul to the sounds of Christian music and classic rock.
Gloria found great solace and community at the Gracewood United Methodist Church, which she regularly attended. Local spots that brought her joy included Gracewood Baptist Church, the serene Strom Thurmond Lake, and the charming community of Douglas, Georgia.
She also cherished the color purple, attributing it to the royal majesty of her faith. The cause closest to her heart was her son, Jason, and she dedicated much of her life to his well-being and success.
Gloria's life was a testament to her faith, her love for her family, and her dedication to serving others. We celebrate her journey into eternal peace, a reward befitting her grace-filled life. While we grieve her loss, we take comfort in knowing that her love lives on in the hearts of those who knew her. Our beloved Gloria will be deeply missed.
