I did volunteer work, and I was lucky enough to visit Gloria several times. She quickly became my favorite person to sit and chat with. She never failed to make me laugh— her quick wit and sarcasm was the best. I loved hearing stories from her childhood, her days as a nurse in which she took great pride, and her love of all animals. When I had to leave volunteering to pursue my career, I thought of Gloria so often. She had a profound impact on me and didn’t even know it. Though I didn’t work in healthcare, she once told me I had an understanding of people which would make me a good nurse; coming from her, I took that as the highest compliment.
I know she was deeply loved by her family and my heart goes out to them, especially Kathleen, who took such loving care of her. I am so glad I got to meet Gloria, and will remember her fondly as an elegant, fun loving woman.
