Gloria Jill's obituary

Jill Wilson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on May 20, 1935, in Portland, Oregon, to Genevieve and John Meeke Sr., Jill grew up in Aloha, Oregon, and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1954. She went on to attend Oregon State University, where she began laying the foundation for a life filled with service, love, and adventure.

On December 21, 1956, Jill married the love of her life, Curtis Wilson. The following year, the couple moved to Santa Monica, California, eventually settling and raising their family in the communities of Manhattan Beach, Big Bear Lake, and Indio, California.

Jill lived a life devoted to family, community, and faith. She served as president of Sandpipers, a philanthropic organization, and gave generously of her time as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. After years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom, Jill reentered the workforce and built an award-winning career in the communications industry. A passionate advocate for adaptive sports, Jill volunteered with the U.S. California Adaptive Ski School, helping children and adults with disabilities learn to snow and water ski—combining her love of the outdoors with a deep sense of compassion.

An active member of the Episcopal Church, Jill taught Sunday School for many years and served as a Eucharistic Minister, faithfully sharing her spirit and support with her church family.

She found great joy in outdoor activities, especially waterskiing, snow skiing, and golfing, and passed on her adventurous spirit to her children and grandchildren.

Jill is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Curtis Wilson; her three daughters, Cindy (Tim) Gosser, Julie (Derrell) Lyon, and Laurie (Bob) Wilkerson; her grandchildren, Brett (Lesley) Lyon, Corey (Hillary) Gosser, Craig Gosser, Sean Lyon, Stephanie Lyon, Carly (Quinn) Delgado, Brooke Blann, and Katelyn Blann; and her great-grandchildren, Greyson Lyon, Rylie Lyon, Maverick Delgado, Grant Gosser, and Stetson Delgado.

Jill’s life was a shining example of kindness, faith, and resilience. She touched countless lives through her dedication to helping others and her unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
