Gloria's obituary

Glouris “Gloria” Ann Leggett Jamison

A Life Well-Lived. An extraordinary woman,  loving Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie & Wife

Glouris “Gloria” Ann Leggett Jamison, 81, of Charlotte, NC transitioned peacefully on February 10, 2025. She was born on November 3, 1943 in Laurinburg, NC to the late Mack Luther Leggett and Odessa McQueen Leggett.

She moved to Charlotte, NC with her parents and siblings in 1953 settling in the Historic Cherry Community, becoming members of Pleasant Hills Missionary Baptist Church. She proceeded to graduate from Second Ward High School in 1962, that same year she was selected as homecoming queen. On August 15, 1970, she married her late husband, Bernard Jamison, Sr. and moved to the University Park Community, where they would establish roots and raise their family, becoming a member of University Park Baptist Church.

Gloria was passionate about attending exercise classes at the YMCA, antique shopping, finding bargains, helping family, friends, and those in need; regularly volunteering with various groups and organizations in the community. She also enjoyed traveling for work, family vacations, or going back home to Laurinburg and Newport News, Va. Another one of her passions was baking and cooking meals for all; whether it be for family get-togethers, holidays, birthdays, office events, or just because. Her pound cakes, carrot cakes, peach cobblers, banana pudding, pineapple upside down cakes, buttermilk pies, and rice casseroles were legendary; only representing a small part of this extraordinary woman’s skills.

Those who knew Gloria will remember her deep-rooted faith in Jesus, infectious smile, sense of humor, laughter, caring heart, drive to learn and grow, and quite literally her fight. Gloria was indeed a fighter, and loved watching boxing and wrestling. It was widely known in the Cherry neighborhood, you didn’t mess with the Leggett girls.

She became an internal auditor for NCNB (currently Bank of America) on their Mergers & Acquisitions team, and worked there for 42 years in various management positions before finally retiring in 2010.

At that time, she was recognized by the CEO for her outstanding service and efforts which helped the bank avoid penalties and identified opportunities for growth.

Gloria is survived by her five children; sons: Taras Leggett (Donita), Travis Leggett, Bernard Jamison, Jr. (Marjorie), and Maurice Jamison (Billie); daughter: BaShawn Jamison. Fourteen grandchildren: Demaurion Wall, Sr., Chenice Wall, Shan’Quetta Leggett, Gloria Leggett, Travis Leggett, Jr., Jaquan Leggett, DeMarco Threatt, Jadarren Leggett, Jordan Leggett, T’Mhati Taylor, JaCoya Watson, Quadrian Jamison, Fenix Jamison, and Logan Jamison.

Seven great grandchildren: Da’Zaria Leggett, Taniye’ Wall, Raquel Reid-Wall, Demaurion Wall, Jr., Makenzie Leggett, Triniye Leggett, and Ty’iarie Leggett. Along with a host of nieces and nephews.
