I will forever miss this beautiful lady, my cousin/my idol growing up. I love you all the way to Heaven Gloria, you are forever in my Heart ♥️ 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Gloria & Berry started traveling with me several years ago. Gloria always had a smile on her face and loved meeting people and going places. It was common on my trips to see Berry & Gloria holding hands and helping each other. Gloria was such an inspiration to so many. Her wisdom was strong and I believe she guided many to make the right decisions. She has left us footprints to follow and in so doing we still have Gloria with us helping us help others. I am very thankful that Gloria has been a part of my life and her memories will always be with me. Sending Love ❤️ and Hugs to Gloria in Heaven. Jill
After hearing that Gloria had passed, I was going through my desk looking for the Christmas card she had sent me this year when I found a tiny scrap of newspaper I had saved over the years. It was a quote from Pericles, "What you leave behind is not what is engraved on stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." I had to look up who this Pericles fella was. Gloria would love that because she thought one should learn something new every day. He was an ancient Greek who promoted the arts and literature, education and culture among other things. He would have loved Gloria for all she has woven into the lives of so many people. I guess that scrap of paper was saved for this very moment.
Sending my deepest sympathy, love and prayers to the entire Grant family, during this difficult time of grief and sorrow. Gloria Grant was an amazing lady and mother to my BFF Martha. I was privileged to stay in Gloria and Berry’s home in Bloomington Indiana a couple times for a girls weekend getaway. The Grants were always so very kind and welcoming. Gloria went above and beyond to make sure I felt at home. She was the Queen of southern hospitality, making comfort meals from scratch, serving up a heaping of her delicious homemade pies , and warming your heart with sweet conversations abundant hugs and beautiful quilts to snuggle up in. So blessed for the influence for good she had on my life and especially for bringing my BFF into the world. Rest in Peace Gloria 💕 🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕🙏
I live about a block away from Gloria. A few months ago our family was going through some trials and they seemed all consuming. Gloria stopped me at church one Sunday and apologized for being a “bad neighbor” and said if there was anything she could do to give her a call. I wanted to break down and cry right there. This beautiful woman was going through way worse than I was and she was so kind and loving and thinking of me. I will always remember Gloria for her strength and love.
Gloria knitted a giraffe blanket for our kids while we were living in Bloomington. I asked her to make it a giraffe because Gloria wore a giraffe pin and I wanted to always remember her and her kindness towards me. That blanket is my daughter's favorite blanket and she sleeps with it every night. I will always be grateful for knowing Gloria. :)
I had moved to Bloomington for a new job and was looking for a place to stay for about a month while waiting to close on a house. Gloria and Berry offered for me to stay in their spare room and didn't ask for anything in return. I later realized how much they fulfilled a Christ-like role by doing so. I had been annoyed that my new employment didn't pay for me to stay in a nice hotel as I'd been told was common practice. When I realized that the financial outcome of me staying with the Grants was the same as if my job had paid for a hotel, I recognized the Lord's hand working in my life through Gloria and Berry. This taught me that work or employment can fail to provide everything one needs, but the Lord's love extended through his servants can more than make up for it. I was able to experience the love and light that Gloria shared, so I was infinitely more blessed by my time spent with her than I could have hoped for otherwise. She treated me like her own son or grandson. I felt loved when I was around her even though she hardly knew me and I had little to offer in return. I'll forever hold a special place in my heart for Gloria.
Gloria and I shared memories, experiences and friendship for many years that began as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She always dressed well and looked stellar, but was frugal with money and humble in spirit. Gloria expressed and showed love for everyone, but especially for her family and Berry! I will never forget the happiness and pride that Gloria felt on the night she earned and was awarded her High School Diploma through the Graduation School. It was fantastic then and lasted for her life.
