Gloria's obituary

Gloria Louise American was 89 years old when she departed this world. She was a resident of Canton, Georgia. She was born in Beaufort, North Carolina to Mrs. Thelma Pleasant on February 7, 1933. Gloria was raised in the admonition of the Lord by her adoring grandparents, Henry and Mary Williams, lovingly known as Mama and Daddy. She graduated from Queen Street High School, Class of 1951. Shortly after that, she relocated to New York City and was soon married to Mr. Daniel American.

While raising her seven children, she enrolled in Hunter College and earned her B.S. degree. She entered the Physician’s Assistant program at Long Island University graduating with Honors. She completed her residency at  Cumberland Hospital again with Honors. Gloria worked in her profession until her retirement.

     She was known for her kindness, compassion, and sense of humor. She was passionate about her faith, her ministry, and her family. And she loved music. She played the saxophone and the clarinet. She loved to teach her grandchildren about Jehovah and faith through the Holy Scriptures.
